Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday announced the ‘Prime Minister Shram Yogi Manadhan’ scheme, which will give monthly pension of Rs 3,000 per month to the workers earning monthly income of up to Rs 15,000 in the unorganized sector.
While presenting the interim budget for the financial year 2019-20 in the Lok Sabha, Gayol said that this scheme will benefit 10 crore workers, which will be the world’s largest pension scheme for the next five years for the unorganized sector.
Goyal said that the country’s half GDP (GDP) comes from the blood and sweat of 42 crore laborers in the unorganized sector. We must definitely provide social security to them. ”
He said that all the workers of the unorganized sector will benefit from Mega Pension Scheme, which includes domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, agricultural laborers and beedi workers.
Under this scheme, workers will get monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after completion of 60 years of age.
In this scheme, any worker can join till the age of 29 years and he will have to deposit 100 rupees per month, whereas the laborers who are involved in the age of 18 will have to deposit 55 rupees per month.
Goyal said that this scheme is in addition to the Accident Insurance Scheme under the Prime Minister’s Life Insurance Scheme (PJZY) and the Prime Minister’s Security Insurance Scheme (PMSBI).
